Tender Mercies

Holis!

This week was really quite interesting. Because we live close to the mission office, sometimes we house sisters that come to Bahia Blanca to do tramites (visa stuff that I still don't understand). This week we were 5 in our teeny apartment and it was really weird living with more people than just your companion haha. But it was really fun in the end.

This week we had interviews with President Cifuentes. We had to teach him what being "your own agent" means and give him scripture examples and an example of when in our lives we were our own agents. I was nervouse because I had never had an interview where I had to teach him but he liked everything I had to say so I was relieved. We talked about next transfer (my LAST) and my new companion (also my LAST). He asked me to focus on teaching the next hermana as best I can. I don't feel too nervous. I did it once, I can do it twice. Poor Legui was the guinea pig haha!

So this week I just about lost everything. Right when I think I have all my marbles together, I lose them. One of the things I lost was our cell phone, oops, and so we had to run over to a members house to ask if we could use their phone. Somehow we took advantage of the situation and we were able to talk the hermana into letting us help her clean her back patio for her daughter's birthday on Saturday. It was a lot more than we had originally bargained for (they're part-time hoarders I think) but it felt great to help clean their house, especially because it would be so pretty if they remodeled it. I totally thought of "flip or flop" from HGTV the entire time ha.

Bahia Blanca is famous for crazy winds and dust, and so I took a broom and literally swept the sides of the house because it was just caked in dust from years of Bahis winds haha. The hermana had no idea that her house was a different color.

Our capilla abierta was in Mar del Plata this weekend, and luckily enough we didn't have a ward training on Sunday because of General conference coming up (we don't do capilla abiertas during conference weekend). So we took advantage of our time on Sunday to go to church to PUERTO on Sunday. I hadn't felt so happy in such a long time seeing old member friends. Flavia was there too, so it was extra sweet. Sadly my camera died so I wasn't able to take pictures with everyone, but it was happy day. We visited a few people in their houses as well, and felt so weird to be walking in the old streets that I used to walk in everyday. Even though there were some streets I remember I hated contacting, I felt so happy to back again haha.

We felt sooo soo soo lucky to have been able to spend a day in Puerto because

1. Hermana Leguizamon completed 18 MONTHS on Sunday

2. She started her mission in Puerto

3. We both served in Puerto

It was so so so needed.

Hey everyone!

Sorry if I had you all worried because it has been a while since I've written. Life on the mish has been a rollercoaster. The mish has been like the cat and mouse rollercoaster at Lagoon, fun at the moment but you walk off with whiplash haha.

Anywho, We keep chugging along. We had transfers two weeks ago and Hermana Leguizamon and I are still together for the third transfer for a row. We haven't killed each other yet, no worries  She is honestly so great and am so grateful for all the things she does for me and the assignment.​

So here is a little run down of what has been going on: We had 2 STAKE trainings, where we talked in front of stake presidencies and bishops and ward mission leaders. I almost peed my pants but they went really well. One of them was in Mar del Plata and the Stake president that weekend came to a capilla abierta we had over there and accompanied none members during the tours. We were so touched that he made an effort to come and participate.

The area has been a bit rocky. The two investigators we had... Are two fruits that haven't quite matured yet. But we have plans to work with members, incomplete families, and less actives to look for new potential investigators. Lets see what happens with that.

Just Grateful

So after yesterday I have just felt so incredibly grateful for my mission and the things I have experienced and for the miracles that I have witnessed.

Every month I send a monthly updated of the capilla abiertas with the data of capilla abiertas during the year and dates of capilla abiertas for the approxiamte 3 months. I have been really worried for the past month because it seemed like none of the wards here wanted to schedule anymore. When I sent the update to president I kind of had a break down because we had weeks with no capilla abiertas planned. Legui and I decided that we would fast specifically to schedule capilla abiertas yesterday. The minute that we ended our fast, the stake mission leader of Bahia Blanca called us to schedule one. Later that day we called other stakes and were able to fill the months of August and October. It was a huge relief and I just felt so much of Heavenly Father's love.

Our capilla abierta this weekend was probably my favorite so far. We were in  the tiniest little branch but the members worked so hard and invited so many people. We had the biggest group of visitors come that I had seen in my time here and we received 13 references. There are only two elders there so they were on cloud 9 to have 13 references for themselves.

Another week gone by

Holis, Holis, Holis!

This week we had 2 really great lessons with our investigators. Legui and I have been really focusing on listening to our investigators and teaching them what they want to learn rather than what we think they need to learn. They have been progressing little by little, and they still have their obstacles but we are happy and positive with their progress. Please keep Guillermina and Angie in your prayers.

 

As for capillas abiertas... I can't believe I have been in the assignment for six months now. The time has just flown by it's nuts. I love it so much even though there are times I want to pull my hair out. Things have been pretty calm lately and I am getting worried that I am the only person that really loves the program haha. I know my prayer list is a little long, but please keep the program in your prayers to so that we can get more member involvement, visitors, and references

. 

If I think of anymore things for guys to pray for, I'll let y'all know.

Vos sos familia

July 24, 2017,

There was a lot of things that went on this week. Liiiiiike we have investigators now! whoooooo. It felt great to spend time and focus on our area. And then when we got to our capilla abierta we forgot lik 58 things in our house because we were so focused on working on area. It was righteous fail I think.  Yep, still trying to find that balance. But we are working on it.

Yesterday was really special. We had to travel to Mar del Plata on Sunday to give a ward training. Now that Legui can walk again, we decided to spend our sunday afternoon visiting our converts in Puerto (we both served in the same area, just at different times). I was able to see my cute Gloria again. She and her Dad went to the temple two months ago and she now has two callings in the ward nursery and as a ward missionary. She is so great and I loved seeing her and catching up with her.

After visiting her we went and saw Flavia. Oh my goodness I love that woman so much! It was raining and dark when we popped in on her doorstep so she didnt recognize me right away but she could tell that I was blonde and she told me that even though she didnrecognize me right away, she knew that "vos sos familia." (you are family) I don't think there has been anything that anyone has told me that could ever make me feel as happy as she did. Flavia was finally able to get baptized about a week ago, and she is so happy and content with her life. I could just see how happy she felt.

Happy

How is that it has already been a week?

Not that I don't like writing you guys but I feel like I just barely wrote. This week went by really fast, just like they always do.

We did more divisions this week with the sisters in Pringles after district meeting on tuesday. We focused on challenging the investigators to be baptized. It felt good helping the sisters out with their investigators. I got to teach one of their investigators named Milen about baptism. The sisters had invited her to be baptized before she hadn't really taken it that well. Hermana De las nieves and I were able to invite her to think and pray for when it is her time to be baptized. She took the invitation well and seemed happy to know that it was her decision and that she could receive an answer from God through faith and prayer. Please keep her in your prayers! She's a good one!

Our capilla abierta this weekend was in Viedma. Even though it had rained alll day long, we still had people come. Legui and I had a chance to participate because the sisters had to leave early. I actually really enjoyed it!.

On sunday at 2 in the morning, we traveled to a little Pueblo called San Antonio and camped out in the church. Something I never thought I would do on my mission: have a sleepover in the sacrament room at 4 am haha. Not sure if we broke a rule or not buuuut you gotta do what you gotta do

.

The little branch we trained was so darling. I absolutely love the people in the district of Viedma. The branch President invited us over for lunch. San Antonio is the farthest south you can go in our mission and I had heard if go to the the beach there, you might be lucky enough to see a penguin.ñ So I had been dying to go of course, and we were lucky enough that the branch President and his family took us to the beach. It was so pretty and so freezing cold. I was so happy. Sadly we didn't see any penguins, but it was still worth seeing. So much prettier than the beaches in Mar del Plata . Pictures coming in two weeks haha.

Lately I feel like that I am truly losing myself in the work. We have so many things to do that sometimes we don't finish our work in the office or sometimes we don't have time to work in the Falda and normally that would stress me out but I feel so much comfort in knowing that I am doing the best that I can and using my time to the best of my ability and that Heavenly Father understands my efforts. I really love being a missionary and the capillas abiertas and am so grateful to be lieving this crazy adventure and serving the Lord's work.

Wouldn't change anything!

This week fleeeeeeeew. We spent two days helping Hermana Cifu with sending the old missionaries off and welcoming the newbies. It was a lot of fun but I don't think I will be making another sandwich anytime soon ha!

Our capilla abierta was in a little military town called Punta Alta just outside of Bahia Blanca. The missionaries there are in our zone so we decided to take advantage of being there and do divisions with the hermanas there.

I was with a sister from Boliva named Hermana Muñoz. We came to the mish in the same group so it was fun to talk about all the things and experiences we have had in our missions since then. We taught 2 lessons together to her investigators and found one of their contacts that they haven't found in like 3 weeks and taught her too. All in all, it felt good to teach again!

Our capilla abierta went better than I had hoped. We had 2 of the new missionaries there, and so I tried explaining to them in English everything  and it was so embarrassing I struggled so hard. The sisters wanted me to pray in English so that they could hear my accent and I almost couldn't do it haha bye English. At least I can still write haha!

Lately we have been so busy that we are struggling to find time to do everything. If you all could send a little prayer our way so that we can find time and balance between all our duties, it would be very much appreciated!
